Michael Jackson Wasn’t So Weird After All

January 23, 2010

“Michael is a generous, honest, and sensitive human being, filled with amazing insight and the capacity for love. If this is weird, I want to go live on another planet.” ~ Karen Faye, Michael’s hair and makeup artist for 27 years (Quote taken from the Michael Jackson Fan Club website in 2010, which is now no longer available. The Fan Club is now on Facebook.)

On June 25, 2009, the world lost one of its biggest superstars, Michael Jackson. Michael was born August 29, 1958 and I was born 15 months later. I grew up watching him grow up and reach mega status right before my eyes! He really knew how to sing, dance and grab an audience starting at the ripe age of five years old! Dick Clark, American Bandstand emcee said, “I knew Michael as a child and watched him grow over the years. Of all the thousands of entertainers I have worked with, Michael was THE most outstanding. Many have tried and will try to copy him, but his talent will never be matched.” ~ (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

American Bandstand was a TV show that came on for an hour every Saturday between 1963 and 1987 (24 years!) and introduced many artists into our lives, one of the groups being the Jackson 5 then later Michael as a single performing artist. Dick Clark had people in the audience get up and dance to the current songs of the times then had some of those people rate the new songs as they were introduced to the world. It was a fun show! I looked forward to watching it every weekend!

Like most young kids it seemed back then, I loved rock and roll. That was what I mainly listened to in the beginning. Out of rock and roll came different genres of music including hard rock, heavy metal, disco and pop music and, of course, that’s where Michael comes in. I kept up with his career for a time and watched him become an incredibly sexy and handsome young man. As time marched on I noticed he was wearing makeup and I never knew why. I’ll discuss that later in this blog.

Sometime shortly after that I started listening to country music and before I knew it I was a die-hard country music fan. I no longer kept up with Michael’s career, I never knew about his charity work so when he was accused in 1993 and then in 2003 for the same charge, I tended to fall into the web of the media and their lies. Now that I know what I know, my heart goes out to him.

The day Michael died, I did not understand why since I had him pegged as a pedophile, but I cried that entire evening! Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had opened in theaters that same evening and I was trying to watch it with my daughter and the young man she was dating at the time, but between the very loud movie and crying so hard I had developed a terrible headache! I remember thinking all I wanted to do was leave the theater, go home, go to bed, get some sleep and hopefully I would wake up the next morning and realize it had all been a horrible nightmare!

I finally got home, was getting ready for bed and turned on the TV to see what all was being said about Michael. The program I was watching was focusing on his amazing talent. I couldn’t watch it for long, though, as I had to go to bed to get some sleep for work the next day so I turned off the TV, but I couldn’t go to sleep, so I got out of bed and went on YouTube to see what all the fuss was about (because I had forgotten) and I first pulled up his performance of Billie Jean during his 30th Anniversary Special at Madison Square Garden in 2001. I was blown away (I know my jaw dropped) then suddenly I felt even sadder because I had missed out on his incredible talent through the years.

I started to feel guilty, too, and I continued to cry for two solid months. It probably seems like I’m exaggerating, but I promise I’m telling the truth. It felt like a spiritual scolding and those of you who believe in God know what I’m talking about. It is called chastisement. I decided to do something with that, feeling like I was supposed to. I felt God was tugging on my heart to research Michael, it was a strong urge and I could not ignore it, so I spent countless hours on the internet and bought several books. My mission was to find out if the allegations against Michael were true or not and if he was indeed as weird as I thought he was! Once I did my research and realized that Michael’s love for children was innocent, pure and came from a good place, and that he was not weird at all, I then felt compelled by God to write this blog.

One of the first books I bought for my research is titled Redemption: The Truth Behind the Michael Jackson Child Molestation Allegations written by Geraldine Hughes. She was the legal secretary for Attorney Barry Rothman who represented Evan Chandler, the father of the first boy who accused Michael of molestation, and witnessed firsthand how the two men worked diligently together to frame Michael of child molestation.

Geraldine shared that before Jordan and Michael met, Jordan (at around age 12) had come up with the movie idea for Robin Hood: Men In Tights and Evan thought it was a great idea for a movie. He wound up co-writing the movie with Mel Brooks and David Shapiro. With the success of the movie, Evan decided writing screenplays was what he wanted to do with his life. He had been a dentist, but had been unhappy with that career choice. It was sometime after the movie came out when Jordan and Michael met. The two became close friends and Evan grew jealous of their friendship since he and Jordan had never been particularly close. Despite the jealousy, though, since Michael spent quite a bit of time at Evan’s house visiting Jordan, Evan asked Michael to build an addition onto his home and when that didn’t pan out due to zoning issues, he then asked Michael to buy him a bigger home. Michael said no.

In the meantime, Evan came up with another idea for a movie, but with the second movie he wanted more of a controlling interest. That would require a substantial amount of money, Evan figured 20 million dollars. As Evan was jealous of Jordy and Michael’s friendship and as Michael hadn’t given in to requests made by Evan before, Evan came up with the idea of accusing Michael of child molestation, unless Michael gave him 20 million dollars. About that Geraldine wrote, “Dr. Chandler had specifically stated his motive at this time was jealousy because he perceived that Michael Jackson was stealing his son’s affection away from him. Dr. Chandler was angry, had a motive and saw an opportunity to make money.”

Geraldine wrote, “In order for Dr. Chandler to carry out his plan, he needed custody of his 13-year old son. It would have been difficult to carry out such a plan without full custody or with interference from the child’s mother.”

Evan then hired the meanest attorney he could find, Barry Rothman. If money was all Evan was after (and obviously it was since he never pressed charges to have Michael arrested), an offer was made. Geraldine wrote, “Mr. Pellicano responded to Mr. Rothman’s request via fax stating that their client, Michael Jackson, had done nothing wrong and therefore they would not consider paying the twenty million dollars requested. He did, however, express a willingness to assist the father’s business venture by giving him a $350,000.00 screenwriting deal. He specifically said the offer was being made to resolve the custody dispute and to allow Dr. Chandler a chance to spend time with his son. (This was to overturn Dr. Chandler’s accusation that Michael Jackson was destroying his relationship with his son by spending too much time with him and causing Dr. Chandler to lose his son’s affection.) This was the only claim that Michael Jackson was willing to take responsibility for because in his heart and soul, this was the only thing he may have been guilty of.” (Anthony Pellicano is a private investigator who was hired by Michael’s long-time attorney, Bertram Fields.)

Geraldine continued, “Dr. Chandler refused the counteroffer because it wasn’t enough for him to shut down his dental practice and work full time on writing screenplays. It is my understanding that Dr. Chandler asked Michael Jackson for a film project of five million dollars per year for four years, which totaled 20 million dollars, or he would go public with the child molestation allegations.”

Geraldine wrote, “Mr. Rothman was very firm in this particular meeting and insisted that it was either the twenty million dollar deal or nothing.” Geraldine could hear Mr. Pellicano say, “No way!” and “That’s extortion!” It was then that the world learned of the child molestation allegations.

Evan did not get what he wanted. Geraldine wrote, “Michael Jackson settled the civil case for an undisclosed amount of money. The court ordered the terms of the settlement to be confidential and banned the attorneys, parties and court personnel from mentioning the contents of said settlement proceedings. It was speculated, however, that the approximate amount of the settlement was [20] million dollars. It was estimated that Dr. Chandler received approximately one to two million dollars and the balance of the money was put in a trust fund for the little boy until he reached the age of 18. The parents were ordered to relinquish custody over the little boy’s estate, and a retired judge was appointed guardian over his estate.”

In the paragraph above Geraldine referred to this case as a civil case. It was not a criminal case as Evan never pressed charges against Michael and there was no evidence of child molestation found for Michael to be indicted. It was all about greed.

On that topic Geraldine wrote, “I cannot help but speculate that had Michael Jackson gone to trial and not settled this case with Dr. Chandler, he could have won. Mainly because, in my opinion, there was more evidence collected by Michael Jackson’s attorneys and investigators to prove the extortion charges than the police had to show that any type of molestation ever took place.”

For people who have wondered if Michael was innocent why did he settle Geraldine wrote, “It wasn’t until I was shopping for a literary agent for my book that I discovered that many people believed Michael Jackson was guilty of the child molestation charges simply because he did, in fact, settle. I heard people say repeatedly, ‘If he was innocent, why did he settle?’ I did not realize that was how a great majority of people felt. I assumed that people believed in the constitution of this country, which states you are innocent until proven guilty. In the legal profession, settling a case is the most preferred way to resolve a dispute, mainly because of the escalating court costs involved in litigating a case.”

Geraldine continued, “Cases sometimes make it all the way to the threshold of trial, and then settle right on the eve of trial. The settlement of a case, however, has never been recognized in the legal field as an admission of anyone’s guilt. It is cost-effective for all parties involved to settle a case rather than go to trial. Even the Courts require parties to participate in mandatory settlement conferences before going to trial.”

However, Michael was truly innocent and further into her book Geraldine stated, “Two Grand Juries, which consisted of 24 peers in two counties, an extensive search of Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, Century City condo, his parent’s Encino home, and even Michael Jackson’s body search, interviews with over 200 men, women, boys and girls, and even traveling out of the country to interview witnesses, did not produce any evidence to support a criminal indictment for child molestation.”

Geraldine brought out some valid points about Michael’s character. By the time the Chandler allegation took place, most everyone questioned Michael’s sexuality. She pointed out that a lot of Christians make a vow of abstinence, that they refrain from having sex until they are married. Geraldine wrote, “They vow to remain unmarried and commit their life to do the work of God.” She does not claim Michael made that vow, but he certainly devoted “his life to doing the work of God by helping underprivileged children around the world.”

Geraldine wrote, “Michael Jackson has always acknowledged and referenced God in his life. He has lived a modeled lifestyle of Godliness. His humanitarian acts and deeds tap into the very heart of God – to help someone in need, to feed the poor, to do for the least and to walk in humility. These characteristics are the very characteristics of Godliness.”

“With all of Michael Jackson’s notoriety, awards, millions of dollars, record breaking statistics and fans all over the world, he remains surprisingly humble, meek, unselfish, always caring for world unity, dying children, underprivileged children and reaching out to a hurting world. He never publicly broadcasted his humanitarian acts and deeds because of meekness and humility.” ~ Geraldine Hughes

On pages 171-175, Geraldine listed the charity work Michael was involved in through the years.

“Michael Jackson’s humanitarian efforts started long before the child molestation allegations surfaced, and continued even through the most difficult time of his life. He did not allow his suffering and pain to interfere with his continued efforts to help hurting children all around the world.” ~ Geraldine Hughes

“Be humble, believe in yourself, and have the love of the world in your heart.” ~ Michael Jackson

Another book I bought was Michael Jackson: The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story written by J. Randy Taraborrelli. Randy had hung out with Michael now and then and he interviewed Michael from time to time. At the back of the book Randy lists a lot of other sources of information as well. He really did his research. He explained so much about Michael that by the time I finished reading the book I felt like I knew Michael personally. I also feel like Michael and I would have been great friends had I ever had the chance to meet him.

Randy wrote about the day that Michael and Mr. Pellicano met with Evan and Jordan for the child molestation accusation showdown. Randy shared that after Michael and Jordan greeted each other with hugs “Evan then walked over to Michael and embraced him. ‘Nice to see you, Michael,’ Evan said. Michael stared at Evan with cold, dark eyes. Under the circumstances, it was an odd greeting by Evan. Later, Anthony Pellicano would say, ‘If I believe somebody molested my kid and I got that close to him, I’d be on death row right now.'”

If Evan truly believed Michael molested his son, how in the world could he have hugged Michael then told him it was nice to see him??? Another piece of proof that this case was all about $$$!

Randy talked about the humiliating body search Michael had to go through to prove or disprove Jordan’s description of Michael’s genitalia, about which he claimed Michael was circumcised. That body search proved Michael to be uncircumcised. (Michael’s autopsy report also mentions that he was uncircumcised, page 18: http://www.autopsyfiles.org/reports/Celebs/jackson,%20michael_report.pdf)

I can’t even begin to imagine how Michael must have felt undergoing a body strip and search for false accusations! It must have been terrible for him!

Randy wrote about LaToya’s live press conference she held in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1993 while on tour, in which she stated that Michael was a pedophile. Later in the chapter, Randy reveals that she was forced to say that from her then abusive husband, Jack, so they could eventually make a half-million dollars on selling their story to tabloid magazines. Randy wrote, “Years later, LaToya would insist that the allegations she’d made against Michael were all Jack’s fabrications, which she was made to repeat against her will. Though it would take a few years, by 2003 she and Michael had cleared the air between them and were, again, close. LaToya also apologized to the rest of her family members; they then all accepted her back into the fold.”

Another book I purchased: Was Michael Jackson Framed? Initially it was an article written for GQ Magazine in 1994 by Mary A. Fischer and due to so many people asking her where they can get the article, Ms. Fischer decided to publish it as a book and did so in 2012.

In the book, Mary discussed sodium Amytal being used by Dr. Evan Chandler to pull one of Jordan’s teeth. She wrote, “In the presence of Chandler and Mark Torbiner, a dental anesthesiologist, the boy was administered the controversial drug sodium Amytal-which some mistakenly believe is a truth serum. And it was after this session that the boy first made his charges against Jackson.”

Mary continued, “The dentist claimed he did so only to pull his son’s tooth and that while under the drug’s influence, the boy came out with allegations.”

Mary quoted Dr. Phillip Resnick, a noted Cleveland psychiatrist: “It’s a psychiatric medication that cannot be relied on to produce facts. People are very suggestible under it. People will say things under sodium Amytal that are blatantly untrue. It is quite possible to implant an idea through the mere asking of a question. The idea can become their memory, and studies have shown that even when you tell them the truth, they will swear on a stack of Bibles that it happened.”

Mary quoted Dr. John Yagiela, the coordinator of the Anesthesia and Pain Control Department at UCLA’s School of Dentistry: “It’s unusual for it to be used [for pulling a tooth]. It makes no sense when better, safer alternatives are available. It would not be my choice.”

Mary quoted a San Francisco psychiatrist, Dr. Kenneth Gottlieb: “I would never want to use a drug that tampers with a person’s unconscious unless there was no other drug available. And I would not use it without resuscitating equipment, in case of allergic reaction, and only with an M.D. anesthesiologist present.” Dr. Chandler did not follow those guidelines. Mary wrote, “He had the procedure performed on his son in his office, and he relied on the dental anesthesiologist Mark Torbiner for expertise. (It was Torbiner who’d introduced Chandler and Rothman in 1991, when Rothman needed dental work.)”

Even though Dr. Chandler claimed he only used sodium Amytal to pull his son’s tooth, it is obvious that he used it so he could feed suggestions to Jordan about sexual misconduct on Michael’s part. Jordan wouldn’t admit to any wrongdoing from Michael and Dr. Chandler had to get him to admit it somehow so he could move forward with his extortion attempt! Greed. It’s a terrible thing!

Before the Chandler allegation came out, Evan had placed a phone call to David Schwartz (June Chandler’s second husband) and David recorded the conversation. It was brought to light after the allegation came out, but only few newscasts shed light on it then it was tossed aside and forgotten about. Here is that conversation:

Chandler: “I had a good communication with Michael. We were friends. I liked him and I respected him and everything else for what he is. There was no reason why he had to stop calling me. I sat in the room one day and talked to Michael and told him exactly what I want out of this whole relationship. I’ve been rehearsed about what to say and what not to say.”

Schwartz: “What has Jackson done that made you so upset?”

Chandler: “He broke up the family. The boy has been seduced by this guy’s power and money.”

Chandler: “I am prepared to move against Michael Jackson. It’s already set. There are other people involved that are waiting for my phone call that are in certain positions. I’ve paid them to do it. Everything’s going according to a certain plan that isn’t just mine. Once I make that phone call, this guy [his attorney, Barry K. Rothman, presumably] is going to destroy everybody in sight in any devious, nasty, cruel way that he can do it. And I’ve given him full authority to do that.”

Chandler: “And if I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I’ve checked that inside out. I will get everything I want, and they will be destroyed forever. June will lose [custody of the son]…and Michael’s career will be over.”

Schwartz: “Does that help [the boy]?”

Chandler: “That’s irrelevant to me. It’s going to be bigger than all of us put together. The whole thing is going to crash down on everybody and destroy everybody in sight. It will be a massacre if I don’t get what I want.”

Chandler: “This attorney I found, I picked the nastiest son of a b**** I could find. All he wants to do is get this out in the public as fast as he can, as big as he can, and humiliate as many people as he can. He’s nasty, he’s mean, he’s very smart, and he’s hungry for the publicity.”

Extortion to the max! It’s so obvious!

This link reveals that Evan Chandler suffered from bipolar disorder and with that information, it all makes sense. The blog shares that in the fall of 2006 Jordan’s dad attacked him with a dumbbell and Jordan got a restraining order against him. After that, they never spoke to each other again. http://vindicatemj.wordpress.com/2010/05/07/evan-chandler-was-a-psychiatric-case/

The link above also shares that on November 5, 2009, just a little over four months after Michael passed away, Evan’s body was found in his high-rise condo. He had committed suicide. No note was found.

Another book I purchased was Michael Jackson Conspiracy written by Aphrodite Jones. She is a reporter who sat through each and every day of Michael’s trial, watched how it all went down, and realized afterwards that he was truly innocent of all 14 charges brought against him. She was in shock as prior to the trial she was convinced he was a pedophile. It took her some time, but she decided to write a book about what happened in the courtroom. She used her own daily notes to write the book, plus made copies of the court transcript in case she had missed anything. There is a caption on the front of Aphrodite’s book from Mr. Mesereau, Michael’s attorney, which reads, “To anyone who wants to learn what happened in the Michael Jackson courtroom, this is the book to read.”

Aphrodite reveals that during the 2005 trial the most harmful thing that hurt the Arvizo family’s case against Michael was that back in 1998 Janet (Gavin’s mother) claimed that she was physically and sexually assaulted in a JC Penney parking lot by security guards. Upon further questioning by Mr. Mesereau of Ms. Arvizo about comments she made on her deposition against JC Penney, she began to get flustered and admitted there were some inaccuracies on what she had written on the deposition. Aphrodite wrote, “The more Janet admitted to inaccuracies, the more she stated that parts of her JC Penney deposition were untrue, the less people were listening to her.”

It was also discovered that Janet’s two sons, Gavin and Star, had given sworn depositions that they witnessed their mother being assaulted. (Star claimed he witnessed Michael touch Gavin inappropriately.) Aphrodite wrote, “As Mesereau sorted through Janet’s JC Penney deposition, he was able to suggest that Janet had coached her kids about how to testify.” After Janet and her husband, David, had been arrested, fingerprinted and made bail after the JC Penney fiasco, the West Covina police booking information report from the incident “described Janet Ventura Arvizo as having no physical oddities, as needing no special medical attention.”

Aphrodite continued, “But some time after, Janet Arvizo showed up at an attorney’s office making claims of having been physically and sexually assaulted by JC Penney guards.” Janet offered photos of herself with bruises. However, it was then discovered that David Arvizo was an abusive man and that Janet “had been granted multiple restraining orders against her former husband.” As questions were continually being asked, it was obvious that “the Arvizos and their kids were in the habit of using lawyers.”

Aphrodite: “At an early age, Gavin had learned how to sue people for ‘damages.'”

(The photo below depicts Michael with Gavin, Star and Davellin Arvizo in the kitchen at Neverland Ranch. They all look pretty happy and content to me!)

Another harmful thing that hurt the Arvizo family’s case against Michael was Janet’s odd statement that she believed Michael was trying to steal her children away in a hot-air balloon! The family also claimed that Michael was holding them hostage at the ranch! There was a funny moment in the courtroom when Mr. Mesereau asked Star, “How many times do you think your family escaped from Neverland and then went back so they could escape again?” The family had visited the ranch three times.

Michael Jackson Conspiracy also clears Michael in regards to the Martin Bashir mishap, revealing what was truly said and recorded in the unedited version of Living With Michael Jackson. (Michael had his own cameraman filming too. His version is titled Take Two: The Footage You Were Never Meant To See.) In Martin’s edited footage, one of the topics that is discussed is the “baby dangling” incident with Michael insisting, “I was holding that baby strong and tight, and I know better.” He tells Martin that he’s seen parents fling their kids up in the air and catch them. Michael continued, “I got caught up in the moment. I was holding on tight. And it happened for like, two seconds. But, when it gets on the news they slow it down. They make me look like this eccentric idiot dangling this baby over a balcony, like a nut. They don’t show you the whole story.”

Sarcastically, Martin asks Michael if he is actually happy that he dangled his baby over the balcony. Michael said, “I’m not happy that I dangled the baby over the balcony, no. But I’m happy that I let the kids give a wave to him. I didn’t realize that he was over the balcony. You can make mistakes.”

Aphrodite wrote, regarding the unedited footage that everyone watched in the courtroom, “It was clear that the Berlin balcony scene happened because Michael had wanted to please his fans. There were thousands of people outside in a frenzy, hovering below his balcony, begging for Michael to show them his new infant son. When Michael went outside to the balcony, he quickly lifted up his infant so that fans could catch a glimpse.”

Aphrodite continued by saying, “For Jackson fans in the courtroom, it was disturbing to sit and watch Jackson’s innocent gesture in Berlin, as compared to the American media footage, which ran so many times over. The media showed the Jackson clip in a way that made him look crazy, always with nasty comments and rumors flying about Jackson having his children taken away from him. The media couldn’t get enough of Jackson’s ‘baby dangling,’ and they harped on his irresponsibility as a parent.”

Aphrodite: “No wonder Jackson hated the media.”

Please do not continue to be played by the media and believe Michael would have ever harmed a child. There is proof of more lies told regarding the Arvizo allegations and further proof that the media was out to get Michael in this book, hence the title. Come on. I am challenging you to read Michael Jackson Conspiracy.

“In the Michael Jackson case, most media conclusions were shallow, misinformed, and self-serving. I know in my heart of hearts that Michael Jackson was not guilty of these grisly charges.” ~ Mr. Mesereau (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

Mr. Mesereau has said that the 2005 trial was a total loss of taxpayer’s money because there was no true evidence presented that child molestation ever occurred. It was a desperate attempt from an overzealous DA whose ultimate goal was to put Michael behind bars. The fact that the DA sent 70 law enforcement agents out to Neverland Ranch to search for evidence proves just how incredibly overzealous he was! Insane!

Azja Pryor, an ex-girlfriend of Chris Tucker’s and mother to his son, wrote a letter to Gavin Arvizo and his family begging them to come clean and tell the truth about Michael’s innocence: https://selfie1982.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/open-letter-to-arvizos-from-azja-pryor

Michael Jackson hung out with credible people, including Elizabeth Taylor who was dearest to his heart because she believed in him and stuck by his side and, like Michael, was a humanitarian. Chris Tucker, George Lopez and Macaulay Culkin took the stand and defended Michael during the 2005 molestation trial. Bruce Swedien, Michael’s sound engineer for many years, said he does not know the Michael Jackson the media describes. Karen Faye, Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush have said that in all the time they knew Michael they never saw anything to suspect him of being a pedophile and they all worked with Michael for over 25 years. (Dennis and Michael were MJ’s clothing designers.) Karen has shared that when the trial was going on, every morning, when she would meet up with Michael to get him prepared for the day, she and Michael would cry and pray together that the truth would come out. Barry Gibb of The BeeGees named one of his sons after Michael and named Michael as godfather to that son. Miko Brando (Marlon Brando’s son and one of Michael’s bodyguards for several years) made Michael godfather of his children. I hardly believe Barry and Miko would have done all that had they believed Michael was a pedophile. Also, Michael was close friends with Princess Diana who we all know was an advocate for children… just like Michael!

Some people believe that the abused abuse; not in all cases. Someone along the way can stop it. Here is Michael’s take on the subject: “I always said if I ever have kids I will never behave like this way. I won’t touch a hair on their heads. Because people always say the abused abuse and it is not true. It is not true. I am totally the opposite. The worst I do is I make them stand in the corner for a little bit and that’s it and that’s my time out for them.”(Quote taken from the book, The Michael Jackson Tapes)

“It all begins with forgiveness, because to heal the world, we first have to heal ourselves. And to heal the kids, we first have to heal the child within, each and every one of us.” ~ Michael Jackson (Quote is taken from Michael’s speech at Oxford University in England on March 21, 2001. It was a speech promoting his Heal The Kids Foundation: http://www.allmichaeljackson.com/speeches/oxforduni01.html)

With Michael being an abused child he could have very easily held anger in his heart, as oftentimes happens with abused children, and then could have carried those emotions into adulthood and abused his children, but instead of choosing that path, he chose to turn things around for the better good. Since he started his humanitarianism early in his life, perhaps he had actually forgiven his dad long before he thought he had.

On the flip side of that coin is Michael’s mother, Katherine, who he often referred to as a saint. She is a devout Jehovah Witness. She is soft-spoken and polite and all the children took those traits. She had to protect the children from Joseph so Michael developed a protective side to him as well and took children under his wing. Jordan’s parents were divorced and he only saw his dad every other weekend so it looks as if Michael tried to take the father’s place. Jordan might have also shared with Michael that his dad was abusive. After all it was because of Evan’s temper that he and June divorced. Since Michael always had a deep concern for children who were sick, he took Gavin under his wing since he had cancer and Michael wanted to help him heal. To help Gavin, Michael told him to imagine his cancer cells were Pac-Men and to imagine the monsters in Pac-Man gobbling up all the cancer cells. Gavin practiced that and there came a time when his doctor told him his cancer had gone into remission. Michael taught him it’s all about mind over matter.

In 1993 during a televised event, Michael received a Grammy Legend Award presented to him by his sister, Janet. During his acceptance speech, he talked about why he loved to be around children so much. He talked about their playfulness and that they only ask to be loved. He said the reason for inner city crime, large-scale wars, terrorism and overcrowded prisons is because children have had their childhood stolen from them. He revealed his compassion for sick children. His eyes even teared up as he talked about it. It was real heartfelt emotion. (The event is featured on Michael’s Dangerous DVD, cover photo below.) Now keep in mind that 1993 was also the year the Chandler allegation transpired. What was felt to be such a touching moment from Michael at the Grammys, months later became speculation as to what the real reason was he loved to be around children so much… and all over a malicious lie.

Michael Jackson wrote, “I spend a lot of free time – in California and when I’m traveling – visiting children’s hospitals. It makes me so happy to be able to brighten those kids’ day by just showing up and talking with them, listening to what they have to say and making them feel better. It’s so sad for children to have to get sick. More than anyone else, kids don’t deserve that. They often can’t even understand what’s wrong with them. It makes my heart twist. When I’m with them, I just want to hug them and make it all better for them. Sometimes sick children will visit me at home or in my hotel rooms on the road. A parent will get in touch with me and ask if their child can visit with me for a few minutes. Sometimes when I’m with them I feel like I understand better what my mother must have gone through with her polio. Life is too precious and too short not to reach out and touch the people we can.” (Quoted from his book, Moonwalk)

“Everything about Michael is truthful. And there is something in him that is so dear and childlike – not childish, but childlike – that we both have and identify with.” ~ Elizabeth Taylor (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

Michael having a childlike mind, heart and spirit is why he could relate to children and their needs. For proof of his childlike spirit, go to YouTube and bring up Michael Jackson Private Home Movies and you’ll see what I’m talking about. He loved to play pranks on people, even on the media, which is why he made up stories like wanting to buy the elephant man’s bones and sleep in a hyperbaric chamber! Unfortunately, those stories backfired on him because after that he was thought of as “Wacko Jacko.”

Please click on the YouTube link below if at this point you still think Michael was a pedophile. This is so adorable! He discovers a bug on the stage and is concerned about stepping on it. He even calls Security to remove it from the stage. He also insists that the security guy doesn’t kill it. When you watch it, you will see Michael’s true essence of sweetness and realize there is no way he was capable of child molestation when he cares so much about the welfare of a bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fng9N5OBg6s

My beautiful daughter said something to me once that really touched my heart and I want to share it. She told me God would not have given the kinds of gifts He gave to Michael, the strong desire to help children like he did and the ability to perform songs with such powerful messages as in We Are The World, Man In The Mirror, Cry, Heal The World, Black or White, Beat It and Earth Song, if he were a pedophile. Now isn’t that beautiful? And what a strong point to make! That’s my girl!

Regarding women and relationships, even though Michael would have liked to be in a relationship all along (next paragraph), I don’t believe that was his main priority in life. I believe God placed in his heart a much stronger desire to help children and to heal the planet, and that’s why Michael was a humanitarian to the degree that he was! Even up to the bitter end, in the This Is It concert series, his main theme was going to be about taking care of our planet for the future of our children! I truly believe God put him here to be our modern day angel! How else did he grow to have such strong love and compassion for children, especially for children who are suffering?

This is a quote from Michael from his book, Moonwalk, published in 1988, long before the first allegations in 1993 so he had nothing to prove at the time by writing this: “I believe in love – very much so – how can you not believe after you’ve experienced it? I believe in relationships. One day I know I’ll find the right woman and get married myself. I often look forward to having children; in fact, it would be nice to have a big family, since I come from such a large one myself. In my fantasy about having a large family, I imagine myself with 13 children.”

Here’s a 2009 statistic: 90% of sexual molestation accusations are false. (I got this information from the narrator off of the DVD, Michael Jackson: The Trial and Triumph of the King of Pop.)

Please keep this in mind: Not everything is black and white and there are always two sides to every story. Unfortunately, we never gave Michael much of a chance to tell his.

Now I want to discuss why Michael wore makeup. I tried to find out first through all the countless magazine articles that came out about him right after he passed away, but no luck, so I searched the internet trying to find websites that explained why, again no luck, no mention at all of his use of makeup. However, I did find one that helped me come to the realization that Michael had to wear it. He had vitiligo. The picture below comes from the link below revealing he had the disorder. The picture was taken during the making of his short film, They Don’t Care About Us. http://floacist.wordpress.com/2007/06/10/vitiligo-photos-michael-jackson/

The pictures below reveal the spider bite we heard so much about. The second picture also shows his vitiligo really well:

I also came across a YouTube video where Karen Faye explained Michael’s use of makeup and that it was used to hide the patches of vitiligo. Karen had mentioned that Michael told Oprah Winfrey he had the disorder in his live interview with her on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993, the first time he made it public, and he told Oprah that’s why he wore makeup. (I watched that show, but as the years passed I had forgotten about that part of it until I started my research and stumbled upon Karen’s YouTube video.) When Oprah aired a TV special about Michael on September 16, 2009, almost three months after he passed away, she talked about how translucent Michael’s skin was during the live interview with him in 1993. With his skin being translucent, together with the patches of vitiligo, he had to wear makeup. According to Randy Taraborrelli, at some point Michael began wearing what is called pancake makeup and that made him ghostly white so I can understand why he felt the need to wear makeup then as well. He had vitiligo on his lips too so he wore lipstick.

I can’t imagine Michael felt comfortable having to wear makeup, at least not initially. I know Karen said he stated he didn’t see why a man couldn’t wear makeup and I’m thinking if he did say that it’s likely because he had to wear it, he grew used to doing so and defended it by saying that. That makes sense to me. Anyway, he somehow pulled it off and looked amazing with it!

Vitiligo is also the reason Michael often wore long sleeve shirts, hats and sunglasses, and carried an umbrella. The disease can cause skin to blister easily under direct sunlight and those blisters can turn into skin cancer. Randy Taraborrelli wrote, “According to The Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs, as the sun’s ability to darken skin is much greater than that of Hydroquinone to lighten it, strict avoidance of sunlight is imperative. Although sunscreens may help, even visible light will cause some darkening. The preferable packaging of Hydroquinone is in small squeeze tubes. The dosage is a thin application of 2 percent concentration rubbed into affected areas twice daily. Once the desired benefit is achieved, Hydroquinone can be applied as often as needed to maintain depigmentation. Some have noted that Michael’s fingernails seemed brown and discolored on Martin Bashir’s 2003 documentary about him. One possible reason for this is that Hydroquinone stimulates pigment-producing cells in the nail plate, making them darker rather than lighter.”

So, contrary to popular belief, Michael was not trying to become a white man. He was very proud of his heritage! He also was not trying to look like a woman. He traveled the world many times and crowds of people would swarm around him, he performed in concerts on stages with extremely bright lights and cameramen filming him, also paparazzi constantly followed him around taking pictures of him so the fact that he wore makeup to conceal the splotches of vitiligo and used a bleaching cream to rush the process of vitiligo along makes total sense to me and if I were in his shoes, I would have done the same.

Michael also had lupus. In the picture above, he was not wearing blush. He had rosacea, which is a symptom of the disorder. It was around this time in his life that his dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, diagnosed him with lupus. Can you see why Michael felt like he had to wear blush? It almost looks like he’s wearing it anyway.

When we saw Michael in a wheelchair now and then, it was because the lupus made him weak. I have a friend whose sister had lupus and she told me her sister would become extremely weak at times, to the point of either being bedridden or hospitalized because of it. The reason Michael wore masks is because with his weak immune system he was susceptible to germs and getting sick very easily. As we all know, sometimes he was around crowds of people at a time so he had to be very careful.

There is another reason for Michael’s need of umbrellas. Randy Taraborrelli wrote, “There are two variations of lupus: discoid, which is skin deep, and systemic, which can be deadly. As a part of the treatment for discoid, Michael’s doctor prescribed the skin lightening creams, Solaquin, Retin A and Benoquin. As a result, Michael was told that, more than ever, he had to avoid all sun exposure – which is one of the reasons he is often seen shielding himself with an umbrella on sunny days. Also, Michael had to endure direct injections into his scalp of Hydroxychloroquin – a steroid – in painful recurring treatments.”

Due to having lupus, Michael had hair loss, which included his eyelashes and was the reason he wore eyeliner and false eyelashes. It was during the BAD era that I first noticed the eyeliner. Also, he eventually lost his eyebrows and got tattooed eyebrows.

A lot of people do not realize Michael was almost completely bald and he wore wigs. His autopsy report says his hair was sparse and a wig was connected to his head, page 6. http://www.autopsyfiles.org/reports/Celebs/jackson,%20michael_report.pdf

Then there’s the Pepsi commercial in 1984 when Michael’s scalp received first, second and third-degree burns due to bad timing of pyrotechnics going off and catching his hair on fire. Of course he lost some hair then, but the lupus took care of most of the rest of it.

Now about Michael’s plastic surgeries, according to Randy Taraborrelli, Michael’s dad called him Big Nose as he was growing up and what’s worse, his dad would sometimes tell him he was ugly at the same time he was “disciplining” him. That may have become a psychological issue with Michael, making him think he was getting “disciplined” for being ugly. He even said he was constantly trying to make his dad love him, by perfecting his looks, as well as his performances. My heart goes out to Michael!

Due to Michael having a lot of plastic surgeries, it was rumored that his nose was falling off. Utterly ridiculous!! His autopsy report does not mention a detachable nose!!

In the DVD titled Michael Jackson: The Trial and Triumph of the King of Pop, a plastic surgeon is talking about Michael’s many plastic surgeries. He said, in Michael’s defense, his plastic surgeons would present the surgeries to him as touch-ups, that they were not surgeries, when in fact they were.

I want to touch on Michael’s pajama day in court. He was not trying to be disrespectful. He had hurt his back that morning and had gone to a hospital to get it seen about and was running late getting to court. When Mr. Mesereau told the judge what was going on with Michael, the judge told Mr. Mesereau he wanted Michael in that courtroom in 45 minutes or he was going to put him in jail or yank bail so Mr. Mesereau told Michael to get to the courtroom right away, even though Michael wanted to go home and change. Mr. Mesereau takes full responsibility for that.

A lot of people think Michael’s addiction to pain medications began after the Pepsi incident, but according to Michael Bush, Dennis Tompkins and Karen Faye, they say it started nine years after that event when Michael had just undergone one of the many surgeries on his scalp in order to help heal the scarring from the burn. He had not had time to heal from that surgery and was about to perform in front of 80,000 people in Bangkok for his Dangerous tour so it was then that he began taking the painkillers. It was also just before that performance that Michael heard he was being accused of child molestation here in the States so then there was not only physical pain that he dealt with, but emotional pain as well.

The link below reveals what Karen Faye shared in the AEG trial about the types of surgeries Michael underwent just before the Dangerous tour began. They were balloon treatments to stretch his scalp. They were very painful and left him with terrible migraine headaches! The pictures are graphic so beware: https://vindicatemj.wordpress.com/2013/05/18/aeg-jackson-trial-days-8-and-9-karen-fayes-sad-thriller-silenced-by-the-press/

With all of Michael’s emotional problems, which began since childhood with the abuse from his dad and then throughout life with the accusations, his medical problems, the burn to his scalp, his multiple plastic surgeries that included his scalp, balloon treatments and injections in the scalp, I can sympathize and understand his need for and eventual addiction to painkillers. I hope whoever reads this can understand as well.

The picture below was drawn by Michael himself and the words are lyrics to the chorus of his song, Have You Seen My Childhood?

Even though he went through all of the above-mentioned trials in his life, it’s amazing how he still gave us his all, making each and every tour bigger and better, for his fans, and went on to be known as the King of Pop.

Now I wish to share some of the wonderful things Michael Jackson did:

Michael gave money to multiple charities through the years from the proceeds of each and every concert he performed, including the History tour where he gave ALL of his proceeds to charities, and he is even mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records for the performer who gave the most money to charities in history. http://www.allmichaeljackson.com/charities.html

Michael gave all of his settlement money he got from the burn to his scalp from the Pepsi ad to the burn ward at Brotman Medical Center where he was taken and they named the burn ward after him – The Michael Jackson Burn Center.

Even though Michael was suffering from burns to his scalp in the hospital, he would visit the other burn patients.

Michael gave concert tickets to underprivileged children by his stage.

In the 1990’s, Michael created the Heal The World Foundation to help children across the world with whatever needs they may have and also created the foundation in an attempt to heal the planet from the mess we’ve created.

Michael and Lisa Marie came across a little boy in a Hungary children’s hospital named Bela Farkas with a diseased liver and Bela would have died if a new liver was not found for him so Michael got his foundation to locate Bela a new liver. Michael also paid for Bela’s surgery and continued paying for Bela’s treatment for 10 years after his surgery. Bela is still alive to this day, despite his doctor’s belief that he would not live past the age of 18.

Michael became friends with a young man named Ryan White who was diagnosed with AIDS after receiving a blood transfusion, Michael purchased Ryan a red Ford Mustang, and when Ryan died Michael appeared at his funeral. Michael wrote and dedicated a song, Gone Too Soon, to Ryan.

Michael not only participated in the huge event of We Are The World, but also insisted on helping write the song with Lionel Richie, an anthem that raised over 63 million dollars for starving people in Ethiopia. By Michael’s participation in that, he ultimately fulfilled a long time promise he made to his mother when he was very young, with tears streaming down his face, that one day he was going to do something about the starvation that plagued parts of Africa when he watched an ad with his mom featuring that devastation. Ethiopia is a country in East Africa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32z8NhAwMN4

To this day, the proceeds from any We Are The World purchases – T-shirts, CDs, DVDs, etc. – go towards hunger in Africa.

(More than 6,000 radio stations of all music types played We Are The World at the exact same time, 10:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, on March 28, 1986! I remember that so vividly and thought it was the coolest thing ever!)

Extending from the We Are The World event the Hands Across America event took place in which approximately 6.5 million people held hands in a human chain for 15 minutes along a path across the continental United States. Participants paid $10.00 to reserve their place in line. From out of the Hands Across America event came Michael’s song and short film, Cry, in which he is pleading for everyone’s help in feeding the homeless in America because he realizes he can’t do it all by himself. It was a cry for help.

Michael helped children in war-torn countries deal with living in those areas through his Heal The World Foundation.

“We share his concern for the children who have been innocent victims of war and, who have suffered because of the horrors of war, many of whom are without families, food or homes. We applaud Michael for his sensitivity and efforts.” ~ BoyzIIMen (Quote taken from the MJFC website)

(The picture below is from a film clip during the making of Michael’s short film, Heal The World.)

After 9/11, Michael helped organize the United We Stand: What More Can I Give benefit concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., the concert taking place on October 21, 2001 with Michael performing ‘What More Can I Give’ as the finale.

Anytime Michael traveled he visited orphanages, spent a bit of time with each child and took them gifts. He told some children at one orphanage that if the conditions were not better there within 24 hours he would not get on stage to perform the next night and within 24 hours the conditions were better with additional staff, new beds, fresh sheets on the beds, etc.

Michael received the Bambi award in Berlin for his work with homeless children, those who were turning 18 and were about to venture out on their own, because he “gives them so much hope and courage, encouraging them to go forward in life.” When he received this award, he was referred to as an “ambassador of humanity.”

… and the list goes on and on and on. Here is just one of the many websites that share the rest of Michael’s humanitarian work: http://www.michaeljacksonslegacy.org/index.php/his-humanitarian-work

“I love to do things for children and I try to imitate Jesus. I’m not saying I am Jesus. I’m trying to imitate Jesus in the fact that he said to be like children, to love children, to be as pure as children are and to make yourself as innocent.”  ~ Michael Jackson on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993.

“I will never stop helping and loving people the way Jesus said to.” ~ Michael Jackson

‎”I hate to see suffering, I hate to see people in need and I feel God gave me a gift, and I have to use it responsibly by giving back and I’ll do it until I have pennies left or the good Lord calls me home.” ~ Michael Jackson

Do any of the above humanitarian acts describe a pedophile? NO! Humanitarianism is a show of “kindness and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings.” THAT describes Michael Jackson to me!

Michael’s humanitarianism reached children on a global scale! He took on huge responsibilities by doing all he did, but he did them. He saw their needs and he worked hard to meet them. How is it that such sweet acts by such a kind and loving man be twisted into something so horrible? Why? Because the mainstream media never talks about Michael’s humanitarianism and instead fills our minds with constant stories of supposed child molestation! The proof of extortion on Dr. Evan Chandler’s part that took place with the recorded phone call between himself and David Schwartz that only few newscasts revealed then dropped is a great example of leaving out something positive for Michael that would have helped to support his innocence yet instead we heard the lies… over and over again like a broken record… to the point of so many people becoming brainwashed!

Martin Bashir is another example when he said, in the original, uncut version of Living With Michael Jackson, “Your relationship with your children is spectacular. It almost makes me weep when I see you with them because your interaction with them is so natural, so loving, so caring” yet when the edited version was watched all over the world Martin said, “Neverland is a dangerous place for children.” Michael and Martin were together in Berlin when the so-called “baby dangling” incident took place as part of the filming of Living With Michael Jackson, but Martin failed to share why Michael was in Berlin in the first place at that time in his edited version of the show and that was to receive the Bambi award that I mentioned before! Newscasts conveniently failed to share that tidbit of information too!

News stations compete for the highest ratings they can get, it’s a scramble to be at the top and, most unfortunately, it’s always at the expense of someone’s reputation! The media knows lying makes for a more interesting story and people are going to stay glued to their TV sets when drama arises! It makes me wonder who’s really at fault – the media or us. Let’s face it. Either way Michael never stood a fighting chance where the media is concerned. But, as you can see below, they are not always correct in their broadcasting:

This is a great time to mention the FBI files that revealed NOTHING against Michael through 13 years of investigations: https://vault.fbi.gov/Michael%20Jackson

Here are two quotes from Michael from his book, Moonwalk, where he gives God credit for his singing and dancing abilities:

“My mother knew her polio was not a curse but a test that God gave her to triumph over, and she instilled in me a love of Him that I will always have. She taught me that my talent for singing and dancing was as much God’s work as a beautiful sunset or a storm that left snow for children to play in.”

“I’ve always joked that I didn’t ask to sing and dance, but it’s true. When I open my mouth, music comes out. I’m honored that I have this ability. I thank God for it every day. I try to cultivate what He gave me. I feel I’m compelled to do what I do.”

On the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993 Oprah asked Michael, “What do you want the world to know about you most?” He said, “To be a great artist. I love what I do and I would love people to love what I do and to be loved. I just simply want to be loved wherever I go, all over the world, because I love people of all races, from my heart, with true affection.”

“When Michael Jackson sings it is with the voice of angels, and when his feet move, you can see God dancing.” ~ Bob Geldof (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

“When God was giving out talent, He gave all of it to Michael Jackson.” ~ Babyface (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

“He’s incredible. He’s a genius. Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved… That aura… that’s incredible that aura is…” ~ Akon (Quote is taken from the MJFC website.)

Michael’s aura… I have read so many comments about his powerful aura and how when he walked into a room somehow the molecules changed and just to be in his presence was awe-inspiring! That has to come from God and Michael’s closeness to Him! There’s no other explanation for it: http://www.truemichaeljackson.com/his-aura-light-love-the-effect-he-had-on-others/

“I’m just so happy. It’s a dream come true. When MJ comes in the room to interact with us, his presence is just amazing. He’s pretty cool. I really like him a lot.” ~ Orianthi Panagaris, Michael’s lead guitarist, in This Is It

In the movie, This Is It, when Michael is telling his band that the beat has to be funkier and he can’t stress that enough, he says it in the kindest way and ends the statement saying, “It’s all for love.” He says that several times in the movie and the other times he ends the statement spelling the word “love” and spells the word in the air as if to further put it out in the cosmos: “It’s all for love, l.o.v.e.”

“Once every several centuries of mankind, God sends somebody special, a wake up call, somebody to enlighten the people the way to be, somebody to bring people together. I think Michael was a gift from God that He sent to show people how to be, how to love.” ~ Jonathan Moffett, Michael’s drummer, in the Memories of Michael portion of This Is It

“We need to bring love back into the world, to remind the world that love is important, love is important, and to love each other. We’re all one.” ~ Michael Jackson in This Is It

“No matter how hard sometimes the world came down on him, he only reacted back with more love.” ~ Kenny Ortega, Michael’s director and choreographer off and on since the late 1980’s, in the Memories of Michael portion of This Is It

“He was an angel walking the planet.” ~ Kenny Ortega in the Memories of Michael portion of This Is It

“Michael was just the loveliest soul and I always left having had an experience with Michael where I felt that I came out the other side looking at the world differently, looking at myself differently.” ~ Kenny Ortega in the Memories of Michael portion of This Is It

Michael’s main desire was to make the world a better place, which was one of his anthems… “Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race. There are people dying, if you care enough for the living, make it a better place for you and for me.” The other anthem was… “I’m talking about the man in the mirror. I’m asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change.”

This rendition of Michael’s Man In The Mirror is so incredible and you can clearly see and feel God working through him in this performance! Every time I watch it I feel like I’ve just been in the best church service ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul-g8rLpMvo

The Bible says we are to judge a tree by the fruit it bears. “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.” ~ Matthew 7:17-18. Yes, Michael had an abusive dad, but he also had a very loving mother, she was his saving grace (as was God) and as I mentioned before Michael took her traits. His good fruit is the magnitude of his humanitarian work and now his children are performing humanitarian acts of kindness! “Every good tree bears good fruit.”

“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say that I love him. So much.” ~ Paris Jackson, July 7, 2009, Michael’s Memorial

“He was a king, a king of hearts and a king of entertainers, a king of imagination, king of a father and king of a friend and really, you know, if I could have I would have crowned him myself.” ~ Kenny Ortega in the Memories of Michael portion of This Is It

Come on everyone. It is time to open your minds and your hearts where Michael is concerned. He was not a pedophile. He was not Wacko Jacko. He was not such a weird man after all.

Brenda McDonald

I dedicate this blog to Michael Jackson who loved the world and everyone in it, who gave of himself body and soul, not only in his music and dance, but also in love, kindness and compassion like no other entertainer before him, and continues to give even in death. ‘I wish I would have known you in this lifetime, Michael… ’til we meet in Heaven!’
